'Sleeping Beauty' wins top prize at LA Shorts Fest

Fabio D'Andrea's short film, starring British actress Emma Rigby, wins the 'Best Music Video' category at the coveted LA Shorts International Films Festival.

The Los Angeles Shorts International Film Festival is one of the largest international short film festivals in the world with more than 300 films screening annually, attracting over 10,000 attendees each year including Hollywood industry professionals and emerging independent filmmakers.

“It is an honour to receive this award and join the talented international rank of past winners.” - Fabio D'Andrea

The film depicts a father (Leo Starr), coping with the loss of his wife, aiming to keep stability in the life of his young daughter (Emma Rigby) and help her realise her dreams of becoming a ballerina princess. The themes of loss, bereavement and hope are all present within the film, making it not only technically complex but also emotionally charged.

Top-Profile Collaboration

The film owes its success to the high-profile collaboration that has happened throughout. Fabio D'Andrea has both composed the piano piece and directed the film, bringing a unique synergy to the audio and visual elements. An award-winning choreographer and dancer, Dane Hurst, has been responsible for incorporating breathtaking and highly-technical dance elements, masterfully executed by Emma Rigby alongside a team of industry-leading dancers. A collaboration with Burghley House, a grand sixteenth-century Elizabethan country house, has served as an ideal venue to bring the fairytale visual elements to life.

'Sleeping Beauty' will be premiered on June 18th, available to watch on Fabio D'Andrea's YouTube Channel (LINK).
